Torchlight Demo Lights up Steam

Love Diablo, but not sure if you can wait much longer for Diablo III? Well then, why not spend a night spelunking cavernous areas with Torchlight? The game’s practically Diablo’s twin sister, and it knows what you like. Don’t worry. We won’t let Diablo III know. This will be our little secret. We promise.

Still on the fence? Yeesh. Talk about brand loyalty. Here – at least try this demo of Torchlight. It’s on us. Now take a peek at those high-res, barely legal graphics. And if you’re still not sold, what other demonically themed hack ‘n’ slash comes with a free dog (or cat!) that lugs your loot back to town while you keep on questing?

Yeah. That’s right. You equip that breastplate with +3 to mana and +10 electrical resistance. Just like that.

Left 4 Dead 2 Demo and L4D “Crash Course” DLC Dated

If you’ve played Left 4 Dead to death, Valve’s just made a pair of announcements that are sure to brighten your day.

First up, Left 4 Dead’s “Crash Course” DLC will finally walk among the livingon September 29. It’s free, of course, and includes a new campaign, new survival maps, and a few other tweaks and balances.

Then, just in time to catch you on the rebound after you’ve kicked Crash Course to the curb, Valve’s dropping a Left 4 Dead 2 demo on October 27. Preorderers will apparently gain early access to the demo, though, and since you’re probably already going to buy the game anyway, you might as well.

As for what the demo actually contains, it’s anyone’s guess at this point. We’ll let you know as soon as Valve finally spills its guts. Our highly advanced torture techniques – known as “extreme nagging” in some circles — break everyone eventually. [Via MaximumPC.com]

Demigod Demo Puts gods in Everyone’s Machines

Boy, if we had a nickel for every time we couldn’t afford a game, we could afford more games. Eventually, though, our goldmine of nickels would run dry (since we’d be able to afford games, obviously – keep up) and then we’d be thankful for free demos like the one Stardock’s put out for RTS/RPG hybrid Demigod.

“The demo features online Internet multiplayer games, the Cataract map and four playable Demigods (Regulus, Rook, Sedna and Lord Erebus.) All of the gameplay modes (Conquest, Dominate, Fortress and Slaughter) in Demigod are available to play in the demo,” said Stardock of the demo’s content.

Click here to download it, so then you can click more things and eventually kill them. Good, wholesome fun. What have you got to lose?
