Windows 7 Users can Procrastinate for 120 Days Before Activating
Just like with Vista, Windows 7 will offer users a 30-day grace period before requiring a product activation. And also like Vista, the grace period can be extended up to 120 days, a Microsoft spokeswoman confirmed yesterday. To do so, users will have to “reset” the countdown timer with the familiar -rearm trick.

Microsoft Announces Awful Winner of Bing Jingle Contest
Two weeks ago to the day, Microsoft kicked off a contest inviting participants to sing a jingle about Bing with the stipulation that videos could be no longer than 5 minutes long. It did not stipulate that videos couldn’t suck, which doesn’t matter anyway, unless the winning entry truly was the best submission Microsoft received.
XP Mode for Windows 7 Attains Release Candidate Status
Windows 7’s XP Mode has attained RC status. The RC build of Windows XP Mode is available as a download on the Microsoft Windows website. Windows XP Mode is designed to work in concert with Windows Virtual PC (formerly Microsoft Virtual PC) “to help ease the migration process to Windows 7 by providing additional compatibility for their older productivity applications.”
