Bioware Explain Dragon Age’s Slight Delay

Studio just wanted more time to finalize things.

Dragon Age: Origins was hit with a delay last week. Fortunately for fans, the game was only moved back into early November and not sometime in 2010 like so many other titles have already.

Dragon Age: Origins Executive Producer Mark Darrah told IGN the slight delay had nothing to do with anytechnical issues for the game, adding the studio just needed a couple more weeks to make some last minute decisions.

“We’re just taking a little time to finalize things,” Darrah said. “We’re focusing on making sure that we bring each SKU up to quality.” Bioware demands each version of the game to be in tip-top shape for release, so the studio is focusing on each platform one at a time.

Dragon Age: Origins for Playstation 3 won’t be shipping simultaneously with the PC and Xbox 360 versions, but instead later in November. Darrah explained the reasoning behind this, only saying “this is just the order we’ve chosen to [release] them in.”

He also assured the PS3 version was not being held back due to development issues, and added it’s “coming along great.”

Darrah also wouldn’t nail down a release date for the Playstation 3 version, but said it will come out “pretty soon” after the others.
