Mozilla Intern Offers Peak at Multitouch Firefox

Get ready to experience the web with your hands, because soon enough, Mozilla will add multitouch support for its Firefox browser and change the way developers think about coding their websites.

Giving you a sneak peek at what’s to come, Firefox intern Felipe Gomes has been busy updating his blog with a video demonstrating the progress of the open-source browser’s multitouch support and showcasing some possible uses of the upcoming feature. In the video, you see Felipe doing everything from playing Pong to manipulating images (resizing and cropping).

“We’re working on exposing the multitouch data from teh system to regular web pages through DOM Events, and all of these demos are built on top of that,” Gomes explains in his blog. “They are simple html pages that receives events for each touch point and use them to build a custom multitouch experience.”

Gomes went on to say that CSS support to detect touchscreen devices will also be added.
